The fiber is highly prized for its thinness, usually measuring 14–19 microns in diameter, making it far softer and finer than human hair (50–100 microns) or sheep's wool (25–35 microns).

  • Warmth & Texture: It is highly insulating while being lightweight. It has a smooth, non-creased structure, resulting in a very soft, "cloudlike" feel.

  • Production: Each goat produces a very small amount of usable fiber, often only about 150g per year, which contributes to its high cost and luxury

  • advises spinning short cotton on supported spindles so you can hone your skills before switching to something more expensive such as yak or cashmere fiber. It’s certainly reasonable to want your first cashmere-spinning experience to be delightful, but don’t lock away your treasures for a rainy day.

The fibers retain all of their natural characters: purity of color, super soft handle, durability, and breathability, with the added bonus of offering a pollutant free biodegradable option cradle to cradle.
